All
three of our therapists are certified in
Prenatal Massage. Barb Hering, who is also
certified in Infant Massage, demonstrates how a
pregnant mom can receive a relaxing massage
while comfortably being supported by pillows.

The body cushion is used so that the pregnant
mom’s expanding girth is supported throughout
the massage. This massage allows the client to
relax and let go. Specific massage is performed
on fatigued, sore areas such as the low back,
neck, shoulders, legs, and feet. This has many
health benefits for the expectant mom such as
increased circulation, improved muscle tone and
a release of toxins. Mom will really appreciate
this relaxing treatment.

Infant Massage
Barb Hering offers Infant Massage to new parents
interesting in massaging their infants, either
in a personal or a group setting.
The power of touch is the most rewarding
experience a parent’s newborn can receive from
the parents. The benefits for parents to this
therapy are significant: a bonding experience
develops between parents and infant, parents
come to understand their baby’s nonverbal cues
through therapeutic infant massage. In addition,
feelings of competence and confidence develop
for these new parents. Finally, infant massage
encourages the baby to relax and reach a state
of calm.
Specific benefits of this type of massage for
the infant are: immune system improves, nervous
system and brain functioning is stimulated,
digestive and circulatory systems become more
regulated (colic can improve). Many parents also
report that after they massage their infant,
he/she sleeps better.
